Mural Painting Of A Simple Modern Paint Designs Ideas Of 2011

Trompe loeil means "fool the eye". You can produce a sham effect for the sake of your child (and impress your friends) using simple techniques. You do not have to be a great artist to get this simple. As long as you can hold a brush, you can do that.

The effect is achieved by creating false shadows behind the simple forms. Forms appeared to be hovering over the wall. Follow the instructions and apply the technique to all the shapes you want, but if you are not a great artist, keep it simple. Do not try to be too clever with your forms. The simple design will always work the best.
You will need:
* A design or shape of your choice
* Acryl paint for walls
* Tracing paper
* Brushes (various sizes)
* Access to a photocopier (optional)
* Colored pencils or crayons
* Low-tac tape
Instructions:

Create your first design. As an example, we use a butterfly. Draw, trace or photocopy of a butterfly on a piece of paper the size you need.

vintage inspired green paint

I love the old fashioned green paint colors that were used in kitchens in the 1930s and 40s.

image from country living

sometimes I will find a piece of furniture - like this table
kind of boring and plain
it is calling out for a fresh coat paint

I decided to use a soft vintage inspired green paint

it really wants to be in a farmhouse cottage kitchen

I had a sample pint size can mixed of  #440 LAND OF LIBERTY  green paint from Benjamin Moore.

the cost was $5.99 for the pint and this was more then enough to paint on two coats

I distressed the finish lightly

because this table will most likely be used in a kitchen I applied three coats of water based varathane on top of the painted surface.  It really protects the table and makes it easy to clean as well.

It looks milky white in the can, but drys perfectly clear.  It is water based so you can get three coats on pretty quickly.  Just dont apply it in the sun because it will dry too fast and you will see the brush strokes.   I love this stuff.   See you soon  - Lori
